The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors will hear a report from the Sheriff’s Department on civil immigration enforcement activities. 
The TRUTH Act Community Forum will include 2025 data on responses to requests from U.S. 
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials for information on serious or violent offenders currently in custody. 
The report is part of a California law that requires local jurisdictions to hold an annual public forum and report on certain interactions with federal immigration authorities.

The East Bay Regional Park District board of directors has appointed Max Korten as the district’s new general manager. 
Korten has been serving as acting general manager since November and has been with the district since October 2024. 
He has been in park services since becoming a forest ranger with the National Park Service 27 years ago. 
He also worked at Marin County Parks for 10 years, including eight years as director and general manager. 
Korten holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from UC Santa Cruz and a master’s degree in natural resources from Cal Poly Humboldt. 
He lives with his family in Berkeley, where he is a regular on the trails of Tilden Regional Park. 
The proponents of a transit tax on the November ballot have released a poll showing majority support for the measure. 
Officials at Connect Bay Area say the poll of 1,700 likely voters in five Bay Area counties shows that 54% support the sales tax hike. 
The initiative would increase the sales tax by a half-cent per dollar in Contra Costa, Alameda, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties and by 1 cent per dollar in San Francisco. 
The measure aims to provide long-term operational funding for Bay Area transit agencies, including BART, AC Transit, Caltrain and Muni.
