It's Andrew Dalton from the APM here at the Criminal Courthouse in downtown Los Angeles.
This is the courthouse where the O.J. Simpson trial was 30 years ago.
More recently, the A$AP Rocky trial was here.
So, they're definitely used to big spectacles.
And today is the biggest we've had in a little while.
There's dozens of cameras out here and dozens of reporters on the first day of this preliminary hearing for singer David and Celeste's parents are also in the courtroom.
We've had testimony from a sheriff's deputy who when Celeste was missing had an interaction with David.
And he told her that they were already having a sexual relationship at this point according to the DA's office.
But David told them that she had told him she was 18, that this was a casual relationship, that they'd only met in person one time.
[music] The lead homicide detective, who's kind of the key witness in the whole thing, took the stand.
He showed some pretty grisly photos.
photos of inside the car, what they found in the in in [music] this abandoned seemingly abandoned Tesla that had been towed with the dismembered [music] and decomposing body of a girl.
They were able to identify her immediately, but they pretty pretty quickly tied it to David and pretty quickly tied it to Celeste also.
David was brought in wearing orange jail clothes.
He was downright chipper when he first came in.
I mean, his "Hello, your honor" was you know, he answered [music] when she first said hello to him and he seemed to you know, pleasantly surprised that she was speaking to him.
The DA did speak during the lunch break.
[music] that he might finally be making a decision on whether they are asking for the death penalty in this case, but he said that decision still hasn't been made.
