SPACE SIGHTINGS: Bret Baier looks into potential life on other planets 65%

Well, part of NASA's mission is to search for life outside of Earth, but so far officials with the agency say they have not found any evidence of that.
Astronauts have reported seeing unexplained phenomena in space. NASA documents recently declassified by the War Department detail what they witnessed beyond Earth.
Tonight, Special Report anchor Bret Baier takes a look at those sightings and where life may exist beyond our planet.
>> Thanks, Aishah. Astronomers estimate there could be up to one septillion stars in the universe.
Now, that's a one followed by 24 zeros. Some scientists believe there could be as many as 300 potentially habitable planets.
Tonight, we look at the effort to search for life beyond Earth and why some UAP researchers say extraterrestrial life may have found us first.
>> When you consider size of the universe, 2 trillion galaxies in the universe, each having hundreds of billions of stars, I mean, the math is also really compelling.
>> Astronomers announced last year the most promising planet with Earth-like [music] characteristics in the universe. Using data from the James Webb Telescope, scientists led by the University of Cambridge detected two [music] key chemicals in the exoplanet K2-18b on Earth. Those chemicals are produced only by life. Can searching for life on other planets benefit life here on Earth?
>> There's so much we don't know.
But your question is by finding out other life, it's certainly going to help us understand better who we are and where we are in this vast cosmos.
we are in this vast cosmos. K2-18b is 124 light-years away.
The fastest known spacecraft is NASA's Parker Solar Probe, which has been measured at a record speed of 430,000 mph as it observes the sun.
Cambridge researchers studying K2-18b say it would take around 200,000 years to reach the planet if traveling at the probe's top speed.
>> If there's life, and I think there is life in other places in the universe, I really do believe that.
But then you start thinking about the distances involved. It's kind of hard for us to wrap our heads around that.

>> I understand why people are curious about the subject, and I get it, and I think it's it's serious. Never once while I was in space did the conversation ever come up with our other crew members about ET, extraterrestrials, aliens.
Um but I do get why this is something that people are curious about.
And And I think that's I think I think curiosity is a good thing.
>> Almost all of the newly released documents are from the 1960s and 1970s, long before the advanced technology that would take twin brothers Scott Kelly and Senator Mark Kelly to space for their first missions in 1999 and 2001, respectively.
>> Would you be blown over if it turns out, or is somehow disclosed, that there is this something?
>> I would be very I would be shocked if there are other alien intelligence somewhere and they're just 100,000 years more advanced than us, well certainly there could be technology that you know, outpaces ours in speed by a lot.
Um, but I haven't from my experience seen a lot.
>> But UAP researchers say outer space is not the only place extraterrestrials could be using for interstellar travel.
>> Is it uh interdimensional?
Uh we don't have a sense of that from other witnesses you've talked to and they the data you've you've gathered do do you?
>> I would say that some of this probably is extraterrestrial. I just think that um we want to be really open to the possibility that these things are coming from elsewhere in space as we know it.
If they have the ability to affect space-time or as some people speculated and this isn't my business, I'm not a physicist, and or something like a higher dimensional space.
That idea isn't incompatible with the idea that they could come from uh an extraterrestrial source.
