Now for your sports news, we are joined by NTD's Dave Martin.
Dave, good to see you as always. Let's start with the NBA.
I know the Denver-Minnesota series quite heated.
There's some injuries, there's some fights. There's a lot of drama. What's happening?
>> a lot going on this series. The latest that's happening, Anthony Edwards,
Minnesota's All-Star guard, he's out for tonight. In fact, he's probably the team said he'd be out for at least another week while calling his status week to week.
That's after hyperextending his knee in Saturday's game.
Uh so, there's a really good chance that he probably misses the rest of this series and maybe even part of the next one should the
Timberwolves advance.
And they are up 3-1, so they they've got the Nuggets on the brink here. But as I said, Edwards suffered a left knee hyperextension,
bone bruise in his knee. It was actually a relief that it wasn't any ligament damage there. Unfortunately, it happened
the same game that teammate Dante DiVincenzo was lost for the rest of the season with that torn Achilles.
Now, fortunately for Minnesota, as I said, they are up three games to one in this series.
They've got Minnesota on They've got Denver on the brink of elimination.
So, tonight's game starts at 10:30 Eastern time.
So, Carey, if you're going to support your team, you you got to lay
>> Nice here.
You know, I do the Good Morning Show, too, Dave. So, you're really
>> [laughter]
>> Following a West Coast team becomes quite [music] quite hard out there.
>> tough. Maybe they can play the Knicks in the finals, come out here, you can actually watch a good game.
That's one of three games in a triple header tonight for the NBA.
We've also got Orlando hosting top-seeded Detroit up two games to one.
They got the top seed on the on the ropes there.
Oklahoma City then also plays Phoenix, top seed there, but the top seed there is looking to sweep.
That game starts at 9:30.
This game starts at 8:00.
So, we got three games going on.
>> looking at this board, it looks like OKC seems to be the only team that is just comfortable. Everybody else is sort of in a dog fight.
>> You know, I think we all predicted, of course, you know, being the top seed and defending champions.
I mean, they're they're like they're they're pretty much set up like Golden State was 10 years ago, pretty much. So, I think we all kind of thought that one was going to happen. I did not I I can't say I thought that Detroit was going to, you know, have any problems with Orlando here.
So, that that's kind of surprising to me, too. But Detroit's kind of new to the, you know, being being a top team here, you know. Yeah, the East always very scrappy.
Let's move to a sport we don't talk about enough.
Distance running. Sebastian Sawe of Kenya made history.
What happened? Broke breaking the 2-hour barrier running the marathon in London yesterday, finishing at 1 hour 59 minutes and 30 seconds.
That beat the world record by just over a minute.
And just 10 [music] seconds behind him, actually, a second competitor also broke the 2-hour barrier.
>> Amazing.
In fact, the first three actually broke at least the world record.
Two of them broke the 2-hour barrier.
Now, afterwards, he actually credited his shoes, Adidas.
These
[music] $500
lightweight shoes that are made for runners like him.
Carbon fiber plates that weigh just 3 and 1/2 oz.
That's roughly half of the the weight of a normal running shoe, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Now, Sawe was actually asked about his shoes being a form of technology doping.
Come on.
>> they were approved. I mean, yeah, I was the shoe going to take some drugs here that's going to help him. Come on now.
What a silly The shoes are doping, right?
>> [laughter]
>> I didn't take this drug. The shoes might have.
Well, you know, it truly, you know, competition, you know, the tide raises all the boats.
Three guys breaking the 2-hour mark in that race. Unbelievable.
>> Three guys breaking the world record.
Two of them did the 2-hour mark.
>> Okay. The third guy
>> Hold me Hold me accountable there. Keep me honest.
>> Still very impressive, though. Yes. All right, let's talk baseball and slugger Aaron Judge.
What's going on with him and the Yanks?
Yeah, Judge had a solo home run yesterday in the Yanks loss actually to Houston. It was his 10th of the season, [music]
and that was on his birthday.
So, happy birthday to Aaron Judge, now 34 years old.
His 10 home runs, meanwhile, third in the big leagues behind Houston's Yordan Alvarez [music] and Chicago's rookie from Japan, Munetaka Murakami.
Now, the Yankees still lead the American League East division with [music] an 18 and 10 record.
At the bottom of the division, though, where the Boston Red Sox are, the Red Sox made a change over the weekend, firing manager Alex Cora.
Now, Cora led the team to a World Series title in 2018 and three playoff appearances.
He's been replaced by Chad Tracy, who previously managed their Triple-A team.
Tracy made his managerial debut yesterday with the Red Sox, leading them to an actual win.
The Red Sox play then tonight against the the AL pennant-winning Toronto Blue
