The men's final four is set after a dramatic finish in last night's matchup
between Yukon and Duke.
Yukon freshman Brilen Mullins hit a deep three-pointer
with less than a second left on the buzzer.
The shot gave the Huskies the victory over number one overall seed Duke.
Yukon coach Dan Hurley spoke about that amazing moment on CBS Mornings.
>> Yeah, we had it all the way.
[laughter]
>> Yeah, you know what? You you're you're just kind of watching the flight of the ball. You're just kind of tracking it.
Uh, I knew it was a deep shot. I didn't realize how far away he was until until I watched the replay of it, but it was kind of tracking in line uh online. And uh, you know, Brilan's such a special shooter that uh, you know, that's what
March Madness is all about, moments like that, players making plays and shots like that.
>> Yukon's win means the team will take on number three seed Illinois in the semifinals, while number one seed Arizona faces number one seed Michigan.
For more on the final four, Scott Doctorman joins me now. He is a college sports reporter for The Athletics.
Scott, thanks for being here. So, the Huskies won back-to-back national titles in 2023 and 2024.
This year, they are continuing their magical ways. What is it about this team that Illinois needs to know?
>> I think you just got to look at the head coach there at Dan Hurley. I mean, this team's what, 17-1 in the last three uh three plus NCA tournaments.
It's been incredible uh just to see what they've been able to do and yesterday was a perfect example of the no quit attitude that Yukon has.
I mean, they're down 19 points to the number one overall seed Duke.
Duke uh with a minute to go in the first half and they came all the way back and of course that last shot will live in infamy for uh for Duke fans.
Kind of a reverse from what we saw with Christian Lightner in 1992.
So, what a what an incredible comeback.
And I think Illinois has to understand that even if it has the homec court advantage, which it will in Indianapolis, it's less than two hours away from Champagne, Illinois,
and that's a massive fan base, but Yukon on the floor will continue to come at you throughout all 40 minutes.
>> Yeah, even if you're ahead, they can come from behind.
All right, so as we mentioned, Saturday, we'll also see Michigan take on Arizona.
Tip time slated for 8:49 p.m. Eastern.
Both games are on CBS, by the way.
Scott, what star in this game do you see be being the diff biggest difference maker?
>> I think you got to go with Yaxel Lindberg for Michigan. Uh the Big 10 player of the year. He led Michigan to a 19-1 record in Big 10 play and they were the first team in 50 years to sweep their opposition on the road.
Uh he is a mismatch on the floor for any team because he's able to do so many different things.
He's a little bit too different things. He's a little bit too
big for smaller, quicker players and he's a little bit too agile for bigger players.
He is a difference maker and
he's the reason why the the Wolverines are still in the Final Four here.
But I would be remiss if I didn't me mention Arizona and and Jaylen Bradley.
He's a phenomenal player.
He was the Big 12 player of the year.
And these two teams uh you know right now are one and two in you know right now are one and two in efficiency rankings.
and it'll be
it's one of the most incredible for
final four matchups we've seen in a long long time.
>> Who do you think will be playing Monday night?
>> I got to go with Michigan. I think after 26 years the Big 10 is going to finally crack through. I think uh the Wolverines will end up playing and I just can't rule out Yukon based on their past success under Dan Hurley.
>> Scott Drman, thank you so much for your time.
We shall see.
Thanks, Lindsay.
