President Trump confirming talks between the US and Iran are ongoing.
That's right. The commander-in-chief warning that the US military is ready for a massive round of strikes if needed.
Rebecca Caster is live in Washington with the latest.

Good morning. For the first time in two weeks, US Central Command did not announce any new strikes on Iran last night.
The president says diplomatic talks have resumed, but he could still greenlight this massive attack he's considering at any point.
Should we expect to see major strikes?
Look, we're talking to them right now. I think they're getting more and more serious as the days go by for maybe the obvious reason, but we are talking to them right now.
Look, there are two ways. I consider that the smarter way, but the other is probably the easier way, doing what we're doing.
Uh, and we can take that to a much higher level if we want to. You know, we're prepared to do that. As you know, we're locked and loaded. We're locked and loaded and ready to go.
Before last night's apparent pause, the US military completed 13 consecutive nights of strikes on Iranian military targets in an effort to stop Iran's attacks on commercial ships in the straight of Hormuz.
But now there's another unexpected disruption to the flow of oil in the Red Sea. Iran's proxy in Yemen, the Houthis, are blocking Saudi shipping and fired on at least three oil tankers this week.
President Trump warned them to stand down or Iran would face the consequences.
Meanwhile, other countries are joining the fight against Iran.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Bahrain and Kuwait secretly carried out air strikes on Iranian drone and missile sites earlier this month, the first known direct attacks by Gulf nations against Iran.
President Trump continues to say Iran wants to make a deal, but he thinks it's going to take more time to get the deal he wants.

Yeah, certainly it is a uh an uneasy situation with Iran right now.
Uh you definitely get the impression that Iran has uh significantly misjudged President Trump thinking that because it's an election year. Um they can get away with uh playing games in the straight of horm. Uh but that's uh they've picked the wrong guy to do that.
I think what's interesting is u many of his remarks on on this situation for all the for all the threats of hey we're going to get you if you don't you know if you don't behave we we're going to continue to to pummel you.
He still keeps extending the olive branch, which is I think the right thing to do.
It's also what the American people want him to do.
You saw that theou the the the peace accord or the ceasefire accord that uh JD Vance was sort of heading was was wildly popular.
Over 60% of Americans said they wanted that.
Um and and you see President Trump continuing to say, "Hey, I would still like to make a deal. I don't think they're ready for it. I don't know what I have to do to get them ready for it, but I want this deal."
the American people want the deal.
Um these images that you're seeing of of destruction and fire is not what um what the president wants and he's and I I'm I'm really glad that he's signaling that because I do believe Americans want this to to end and they want prices for gasoline to go down and they want to u move forward and he has a big midterm up ahead where I know he he as you said despite the fact that he's doing this ahead of a midterm he does still want to do well in the midterm.
Well, and it's a good point, Rachel, because tomorrow will be exactly 100 days until the midterms.
And Iran believes that that is the leverage that they hold over President Trump that they can cause so much uh disapproval in this country of what he's doing.
But, you know, when you look at what we've seen pretty much over the course of the last week, and the last 13 days, it feels like we are past the the point of negotiations right now.
Even though while he's saying he's continuing to talk, we feel past that.
Yesterday, the New York Post had covered and said, "Go big, then come home."
And ultimately, when you compare the the Iraq and Afghanistan comparisons of people saying we're getting into another forever war, remember the goals are quite very different.
And both of those, we were a ground occupation and we were doing nation building.
Neither of those are on the table. This is about preventing Iran from getting a nuclear weapon and opening up the Straight of Hormuse.
And so I think we're likely to possibly see that that larger mass of attack actually coming to try and hit them hard enough so that that that the message is clear.
Yeah, I think you're right. Nation building is totally off the table.
But as things go with war, you really don't know. No one's actually really said absolutely no to boots on the ground.
I hope that's the case. Um and I hope this doesn't escalate any further, but we should all continue to pray for peace and hope that this um resolves itself.
