President Donald Trump says his administration is moving forward with renovations of of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
Yeah, according to the president, the project will dramatically improve the iconic site.
We scrubbed the surface of the existing [music] granite that's been there since 1922.
We then grouted all of the granite, fixed it [music] up, took about 2 weeks.
And now we have a nice clean surface on which we're putting a industrial-grade swimming pool topping.
And they [music] said, "What color would you like, sir?"
It's called American flag blue, I said, "That's the color [music] I want."
The president says the renovation will cost about 1 and 1/2 million dollars and take roughly a week to complete.
He says contractors have already begun laying down materials for the project.
The Reflecting Pool has been a centerpiece of the National Mall since opening in 1923.
It has hosted major moments in US history, including the iconic Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s I Have a Dream speech.
