While the sun is a little bit brighter here in New York today as compared to yesterday, the smoke is a little bit lighter.
Thankfully, you can actually see the George Washington Bridge, which you couldn't see yesterday.
Still levels of air quality are on the unhealthy side here, even more so to the south, where the core of the heavier smoke has shifted.
Philadelphia, DC, levels down there are up in over 200, which makes it hazardous for everybody.
Detroit and Chicago have led the way worldwide as far as the highest levels on the air quality index upwards of 300 to 400 at that level.
You don't want to be outside for any length of time without wearing a mask.
All right, what's going to happen this weekend in New Jersey World Cup on Sunday and we do think that the weather and the smoke should be clear enough for them to play.
There's no indication they're going to postpone or delay it because of air quality.
There's a pretty strong front that's coming through.
Winds will shift and at least for uh Sunday, we do expect to see less in the way of smoke.
What happens after that is anybody's bet because these fires are going to keep on plugging throughout the summer.
They're getting some rain right now.
Not enough to knock them down or knock them out.
Maybe enough to knock down some of the fire activity.
So, we'll see the smoke levels come up and down really throughout the summer.
And depending on where you are downstream and what the weather patterns and wind patterns are downstream, you'll probably see more in the way of smoke.
So enjoy the clear air when you have it, but keep the mask handy throughout the
