NBC News has a projection to make.
This is perhaps not a surprising projection here and that is in the state of Georgia in the Republican race for governor.
It is advancing to a runoff.
You can see Burt Jones, Rick Jackson there.
Both of them now moving on to a runoff.
Brad Raffensperger had been a distant third even in some of the polling here.
Somebody who as we talk about people who have been thorns in President Trump's side, he is certainly among them.
This is interesting Listen, this is I think not unexpected but more money will be spent after a ton of money has already been spent in this race to the point where it has it has blotted out the sun in some ways.
Jackson's been on a ascendant since he started spending money.
He is a very wealthy man.
He has a lot more to spend.
If this is Burt Jones' ceiling, that's a problem because Raffensperger's voters are probably not going to Burt Jones.
If there's a Trump divide there, I think Jackson has the money to spend to go get those Raffensperger voters coming forward.
spent all night talking about how powerful Donald Trump's political arm is.
Burt Jones is below the Mendoza line here.
Trump-backed candidate into To Garrett's point, Brad Raffensperger voters, I can't imagine there are too many of them in that 15% that are going to vote for a Trump-backed candidate.
So, Rick Jackson's campaign has been very interesting.
He's drawing big crowds.
He's positioning himself as an outsider which is an effective message in Georgia.
I wouldn't sleep on this race.
I think that the runoff here is going to be very interesting.
Jackson came in late and I think the president was for Jackson was even in the race.
So, I mean I wouldn't play that.
He has an unbelievable story um from how he grew up.
He has been very successful and very helpful throughout Georgia.
Everybody make clear what his story is in his ads, telling his own story.
Yeah. And and I think by the end of the night he probably could be in first.
Well, I hope he tells that story well now because come November, he will not have an opportunity to tell it again when he's beat by the Democratic candidate.
Well, what is interesting, he did come into the race late.
He spent a lot of his own money.
And the fact that he made it to the top two is certainly says something about his potential political power.
