We begin tonight with the search for answers after another scary moment at an American airport. 
This time, Denver. 
It happened when a Frontier jet taking off Friday night struck and killed a person on the runway. 
The pilots aborted takeoff after reporting an engine fire and passengers, well, they rushed to evacuate. 
CBS's Sarah Hurwitz of our Denver station is there for us with the very latest.

We are learning more tonight about what happened. 
The airport confirms a person jumped the perimeter fence and within 2 minutes was hit and killed while crossing an active runway. 
This happened as the jet was taking off. 
This video shows the moment the Frontier airliner hit a person on the runway.

4345, we're stopping on the runway. 
Uh, there we just hit somebody. 
We haven't had to park. 
231 people were on board the Frontier Airbus A321 headed to Los Angeles Friday night. 
Really going rapidly when all of a sudden there was a big jolt and a loud noise and then boom, this huge orange fireball out the right side of the plane. 
The person hit sucked into one of the engines. 
We've got uh smoke in the uh aircraft. We're going to evacuate on the runway. 
Passengers rushed to exits, evacuating the aircraft on emergency slides. 
They were bused to the terminal. 
12 were hurt. 
It's very clear that flight attendants represented all of aviation's first responders very well last night and we're very proud of them. 
Fire crews extinguished the flames. 
In a statement, Frontier said it's deeply saddened by the event and an investigation is underway. 
It's the latest aviation accident this week. 
Orlando, a Delta worker was killed when a plane hit a boarding bridge. 
In Newark, New Jersey, a United Airlines jet clipped a light post and a delivery truck while landing last Sunday. 
Tonight, the airport here is operating normally. 
No word yet on the identity of the person hit, although they are not believed to be an airport employee.
