Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski, the lone Republican voting against the bill, which now heads to the house for approval. 
For more than 18 hours, Democrats and some Republicans introducing measures to rein in the fund aimed at compensating President Trump's allies, possibly even the rioters who attacked [music] police officers on January 6th. 
All of those efforts failed. 
For weeks, acting Attorney General Todd Blanche defended the fund, but after a firestorm of criticism, he testified it had been dropped. 
Still, President Trump did not commit. 
>> Republicans are trusting the word of Todd Blanche, who built a career on lying, that the administration will just drop this slush fund. 
>> The president is now expected to nominate Blanche, his former personal attorney, to lead the Department of Justice. 
>> We are going to make him permanent Attorney General. 
>> But he could face a difficult road ahead. 
>> Do you think he'll have a hard time getting confirmed? 
>> Um hard to say. 
>> At least two Republicans have not publicly committed to supporting Blanche in this effort. 
Now, something that also could complicate this entire process, former Attorney General Pam Bondi testified behind closed doors that it was Blanche that oversaw the handling and the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files, which we know did prompt some bipartisan criticism over on Capitol Hill.
