Thank you for joining [music] us
tonight. I'm Steve Lance.
With under two hours left before the 800 PM deadline,
President Trump now agreeing to suspend bombing Iran for two weeks if Iran agrees to open the Straight of Hormuz.
The president also saying the US receiving a 10-point proposal from Iran.
We go now live to ENTD's White House correspondent, Mario, standing by at the White House.
Mari, good evening.
Lots of news uh in an hour uh ahead of the president's deadline coming out.
What can you tell us?
>> Hey, Steve. Good evening. Yeah, that's right.
President Trump just an hour and a half before that 8 p.m. deadline where he was threatening to strike more bridges and power plants inside Iran is now saying that he's agreed to suspend the bombing and attack on Iran for 2 weeks if Iran agrees to the complete immediate and safe opening of the Straight of Hormuz.
And the president there is declaring what he calls a double-sided ceasefire based on a proposal from Pakistan's prime minister who requested that the president hold off on the destructive force being sent uh into the Iranian regime tonight.
the president goes on to lay out his reasoning for the ceasefire saying that the US has already met or exceeded its military objectives in Operation Epic Fury and are quote very far along with an agreement concerning what he calls long-term peace with Iran and in the Middle East more broadly.
The president
says he's also received a 10-point proposal from Iran and believes it's workable uh and he can negotiate with it.
it.
And Steve, President Trump, meanwhile, throughout Operation Epic Fury has been emphasizing that the Iranian people yearn for freedom, urging them to take back their country.
And this, of course, echoes his very first address to the nation at the beginning of Operation Epic Fury when he directly called on the Iranian people to rise up and reclaim their nation.
But here's President Trump yesterday addressing this in the James Brady briefing room.
Take a look.
The Iranians have and we've had numerous intercepts.
Please keep bombing bombs that are dropping near their homes and we're not hitting those areas.
They're saying, "Please come back. Come back. Come back."
All I can tell you is they want freedom.
They have lived in a world that you know nothing about.
It's a violent, horrible world where if you protest, you are shot.
This now unfolding as Iranian regime officials are demanding students, artists, and athletes form human chains around the country's power plants.
Scenes that have been filmed and broadcast by Iranian state media.
Iran has also armed terrorist proxies, targeted civilians, strangled shipping lanes, and destabilized governments.
It has hidden and encouraged its proxies to hide behind civilians and civilian infrastructure to attack Americans and our allies.
Iran hides military hardware in hospitals and schools and civilian neighborhoods for propaganda purposes in the most sick and despicable way.
>> According to Iran International, more than 36,000 people have been killed since January in the regime's violent massacre of anti-regime protesters.
Right now, as their country suffers,
they are spending millions per day to enforce an internet blackout on those same civilians and those same children that they are executing for daring to protest.
>> And Steve, the president tonight is saying that almost all of the past points of contention between the US and Iran have been agreed to between the two countries,
but this two-e period will allow the agreement to be quote finalized and consummated.
President Trump is also calling it an honor to have this long-term problem close to a resolution.
resolution.
Back to you,
you,
