And we got something special for you.
A tribute to British music history has found its home in Cleveland, Ohio.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's newest exhibit, Paul McCartney and Wings, tells the story of the rock legend's reinvention after he left the Beatles in 1970.
Pages of handwritten lyrics, instruments played by band members, and even Sir McCartney's prized guitars take visitors on a journey through the iconic era of music history.
Joining me now are the exhibit's curator, Andy Leach, and former Wings band members, Laurence Juber and Steve Holly.
It is so good to have you all with us.
All right, well, Steve, let's start with you.
What is it like seeing a part of your own music career highlighted in this exhibit?
It's pretty staggering, I'll tell you.
It's not something I ever expected, but very, very, very proud.
Uh Very happy.
And Laurence, what Same question goes to you.
I mean, what what does it mean to see your legacy on full display like this as a musician?
Yeah, who would have expected that it would end up in in this kind of environment.
I mean, it's it's classic, and it's just very very warming.
Yeah.
And exciting for all of us, too.
Andy, as the curator of this exhibit, I mean, what was this process like of selecting which artifacts were going to go in, and also telling the story for visitors?
Well, I started by working with MPL, which is Paul McCartney's company in London, and it was a really great collaboration with his team, back and forth, kind of selecting the artifacts from his personal archive, which was make up probably probably 75% of the exhibit, but I also collected directly from Laurence and Steve and other Wings members and and associates of the band.
And yeah, it's it's the process of research, then decisions, revisions, and you know, then the process of putting it all together with the design, all in the last kind of month here.
It's been really striking to see it come together.
Yeah, we're showing some of those photos.
It looks incredible.
And I have to ask you, Andy, about these iconic guitars.
I mean, what was that journey like getting them to the museum all the way from London?
Well, I was there about 2 and 1/2 months ago and prepared all the artifacts including the guitars for their journey to Cleveland.
The guitars took a little longer than everything else, as you might have heard, but everything made it here just in the nick of time and we're very happy to see them here.
Ah, it's like it's art.
I mean, just looking at those images, it is beautiful.
Steve and Lawrence, I mean, what do each of you hope that visitors and fans take away from this immersive experience?
I guess just being able to be a little bit closer to to the to what we were doing.
I don't know.
I can't imagine it myself.
It's a bit hard to put yourself in that position.
I'm looking at artifacts.
I have my little flexi tone there and I'm going to I'll be back.
I'll be back.
Please.
It's It's a little strange.
I haven't managed to process it properly yet, but I'm very honored.
Respected.
I I think that it's it's so valuable for people to actually kind of get that close to the history of it.
And and hopefully that will draw them into the music.
Mhm.
Cuz there's generations that that have not really yet experienced what this music was.
And especially now with so much AI music out there that the authenticity of it
>> Yeah.
>> and the real feel that is so well captured in this exhibit that I think that people are going to find it really compelling.
Yeah, I I totally agree.
It's intimate, it's personal, and it's really something special.
So, thank you so much for joining us.
Congratulations on all the success and on this exhibit as well.
Steve Lawrence, Andy, we so appreciate you.
And congratulations.
