So, let me go ahead and So, thank you so much for being with us with NTD.
Keith,
I guess first just what's your prayer for America as we're here today rededicating our nation as one nation under God on our 250th birthday what with President Trump's orders to bring faith back to the White House but also back to our nation.
So, what what is your prayer for
Well, my my prayer consists of a few words and it starts off with freedom and dear God thank us for that and also gratitude because when I look at, you know, what America stands for and what we're experiencing here and our values and that and the freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of, you know, being able to be the land of opportunity.
That's what I'm grateful for and I thank God for that every day.
What do you believe right now, you mentioned some experiences, is the biggest threat to religious freedom and what do you think is at the root of what's dividing our nation right now and and how do we go about healing that?
Well, you know, first of all, I think as Americans we have more in common than we have differences and we can't and we can't forget about that.
You know, and if I look at what I've learned when I was under Secretary of State, it was look, you know, the natural order of things is the bad king, the dictator and the emperors.
That's the law of physics and growing up in this white picket fence and the dog and 2.5 children, I was 0.5 cuz they have two sisters, you cannot take that for granted and you got to fight every day for freedom and I think if it wasn't for the United States, there'd be a 100 countries who wouldn't even experience an ounce of freedom and so that's something to be grateful for and that's something to rededicate our lives to and so today is a national jubilee of prayer, praise and Thanksgiving and that recommitment one [music] nation under God.
So, what are other events that we can be looking forward to?
I know that there's a whole plethora of them for our 250th anniversary.
What are you most looking forward to?
Well, I would say one word would be participation because we want to touch every single American at Freedom 250.
We have over a thousand events, hundreds of initiatives.
We got something for everybody.
And what we're really doing is we're bringing to all Americans together.
So, whether it's faith groups, schools, corporations, nonprofits, institutes, sports teams, our job is to integrate that and so all Americans experience one common experience for the 250th and it's all year long.
And we have these big signature events like the Great American State Fair that's going to be right here on the National Mall.
All 50 states will have a pavilion.
It'll be like a world expo.
So, that's going to be a big one.
That goes from June 25th to July 10th and right in the middle of that is the Fourth of July where we'll have the biggest fireworks ever.
President Trump said we're going to have the biggest ones and believe me, it will be the biggest in history.
I do believe that. Amazing.
And so, you were just telling me about the many hats that you've worn, you know, amazing throughout your life journey.
Can you pinpoint for me me any providential or any kind of miraculous experiences that have led to to this moment or that you think of in your memory as being kind of turning points for your faith personally?
Yeah, you know, well, I can think of one where you know, I was I started my career at General Motors and I was named vice president GM at age 26.
So, that was when GM was the most powerful company in the country.
And on my 30th birthday, I left that behind.
I was going up the corporate ladder to head out to Silicon Valley to follow my dream of entrepreneurship.
And it was like running the 100-yard dash getting smacked in the face with a 2x4 and it was a disaster experience.
I remember the first day on the job uh the CEO said to me, "I want you to say this to the board." I go, "I will not. That would be lying."
And I you know, I thought I made the biggest mistake in my life.
And I learned a lot about values and about integrity and about faith.
And out of that womb uh that experience uh I built three other companies, Rasna, Ariba where we built invented this electronic commerce, DocuSign, and then had a chance to run US economic diplomacy for the United States.
So, I feel like my life's been like Forrest Gump.
I don't know how I've landed here, but the greatest of all is being the CEO of Freedom 250.
And one last question, what's your message right now to maybe young people or people who are feeling maybe despondent or or hopeless uh about the current state of division or or politics or just overwhelmed?
Yeah. By the way, I would say, "Look, take a moment out and reflect with our gratitude and what we have here in the United States.
You don't see people from China or Iran trying to come into the United States.
