rulings now against the Trump administration.
One federal judge saying the Trump name needs to be removed from the Kennedy Center within two weeks,
while another is reopening the case involving the DOJ's so-called anti-weaponization fund.
Senior White House correspondent Selena Wang joins us
now with more.
Selena, let's start with the Kennedy Center.
What is the president saying today?
>> Yeah, Ike. Well, first of all, President
Trump is facing a whole string of legal setbacks, and he is furious over this decision from a federal judge ordering him to remove his name from the Kennedy
Center within two weeks. This judge writing that Congress is the one that gave the Kennedy Center its name, and
only Congress can change it. President
Trump is blasting the judge as well as the decision around this ruling, claiming without evidence that it was
politically motivated and claiming that the building is a in a state of collapse
and in desperate need of upgrades. The president posting quote that the judge
would rather see it die than have
President Trump transform it into something that everyone could be proud of, much as I have done in many cases throughout my life. So, this judge is
both ordering that Trump cannot rename it or close the building. And that ruling comes amid some legal challenges for the president related to his settlement with the IRS and his so-called anti-weaponization fund.
Right.
>> So Ike, this is a striking turnaround.
You have the judge that oversaw this case where President Trump uh had sued the IRS.
This was a $10 billion lawsuit now considering reopening the case to investigate allegations of fraud.
Judge Kathleen Williams ordering Trump to respond to quote grievous allegations that his settlement was quote premised on deception.
Now remember that President Trump dropped this lawsuit in
exchange for the creation of what's called this anti-weaponization fund.
That's $1.8 billion in taxpayer money to be given away to Trump allies who claim they were unfairly treated by the Biden justice department.
That could even include riers who attacked police officers on January 6th. even they could potentially see payouts from this fund.
So, no surprise that has drawn bipartisan outrage on Capitol Hill.
The judge is giving President Trump until June 12th to respond.
This as another judge has also ruled to temporarily block payments from that fund.
All
right, Selena Wang, thank you for the updates.
