Canadian media outlets are publishing reports that exposed the Chinese Communist Party's transnational repression targeting freedom of belief and expression.
Canadian lawmakers also condemning the incident.
NTD's Toronto team brings us the story.
The Four Season Center for the Performing Arts, home to the Canadian Opera Company, recently received bomb threats targeting Shenyun performances.
Although police determined the threats to be unfounded, the theater still cancelled six scheduled performances.
The local presenter for the performances said this is not the first time Shinyune received such threats, but it is the first time a performance has been cancelled.
We believe these threats are part of a broader campaign by the Chinese Communist Party to silence Shenya.
A performance that showcases China before communism and highlights ongoing human rights abuses in China today.
Canadian member of parliament Garnett Jennis also condemned the threats.
We know that Shenyen is targeted regularly and we know why because the artistic messages that Shenyen carries uh are ones that uh the CCP does not like.
The the federal government has to act to combat instances of of foreign interference wherever they appear.
[snorts] member of parliament Judy Zro also weighing in with a statement saying recent incidents involving Shiny Performing Arts, a lawful cultural production enjoyed by audiences across Canada, are deeply alarming.
This organization has been targeted by a coordinated campaign of threats, including false bomb threats, some of which have been traced to actors linked to the Chinese Communist Party.
that it's a shame that we as a society have to cancel these events rather than protect it and investigate to the nth degree uh who's behind these threats.

Globally, more than 150 threats have targeted Shen Yune over the past two years.
However, no actual explosives were ever found and no threats ever materialized.
Reports indicate some threats originated from China as a part of a coordinated disruption campaign.
Last year, Taiwan's Criminal Investigation Bureau traced similar threats to a facility in Shien, China.
A year of earlier, two Chinese agents in the United States were sentenced to prison for attempting to bribe an internal uh revenue service agent to open an investigation into Shenzhen.
The US State Department has also condemned ongoing intimidation targeting the company.
A statement from the Four Season Theater explains the action was taken out of an abundance of caution following an escalating series of threatening messages that were swiftly reported to the Toronto Police.
The theater added that the well-being of staff, crew, artists, and audience members was the highest priority, and the decision was made in the interest of public safety.
Toronto police confirmed to the Toronto Sun on Thursday that the bomb threats occurred on Sunday, March 29th, and Monday, March 30th, and have not occurred since.
The incident has sparked discussion in Canada and internationally.
Currently, media outlets including Toronto CP24 News Channel, CTV News, the National Post, the Toronto Sun, and the Toronto Star across television, print, and online platforms have all reported on and exposed this case of transnational repression.
Some audience members only learned the show was cancelled when they arrived at the venue.
