Get ready for a new heartwarming series, Must Love Dogs, following the lives of CFL football star Brady Oliveira and realtor rescue-influencer Alex Blumberg.
Together with dedicated volunteers, they rescue and find forever homes for dogs in need.
Must Love Dogs follows real dog rescue cases in real time as this power couple go the extra mile for any pup in need.
Spring is a busy time for Blumberg, who works as a realtor and Oliveira is training hard for the upcoming CFL season.
He plays for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and after last season’s devastating loss in the finals, he’s determined to help his team win this year's championship, set to take place on home turf this.
Meanwhile, the high-profile couple also have four dogs at home to take care of.
In Must Love Dogs, they take on daring rescue misses, each one full of edge-of-your-seat drama.
In the first episode, Blumberg crawls under an old shed to rescue sick and terrified puppies who are hiding there.
When no foster home is available, the couple take in Stella, a stray only to find out that she’s pregnant — with 10 pups!
Take a look.
Prepare to watch an emotional journey into the world of animal rescue, where moments of joy, heartbreak and everything in between are revealed.
“When you watch a dog go from surviving to truly belonging, it changes the way you see adoption,” says Blumberg.
“They’re not 'rescue dogs.'
They’re just dogs who need a chance — and once they get it, they thrive.”
Must Love Dogs also spotlights incredible rescue organizations like K9 Advocacy that are doing the hard, daily work behind the scenes.
Must Love Dogs was filmed in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Blumberg and Oliveira’s home.
The couple race to save as many stray dogs as they can before the harsh winter sets in.
“I think people are going to be shocked by the sheer number of dogs that are out there waiting for homes, especially in Northern Canada,” explains Blumberg.
Both are deeply committed to the community they grew up in and love.
But, this season brings uncertainty, as Oliveira's contract with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers is up for renewal.
An offer from another team could force them to leave the city and the rescue community they have built their lives around.
“The series gives an intimate look at our relationship, our dogs, our life and Brady’s career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers — all woven together as a love letter to the city we call home,” says Blumberg.
The 10-part series Must Love Dogs will debut on CBC Gem Monday, April 20, 2026.
“If the series encourages even a few people to get involved, support a rescue, or simply become more aware, then it’s done what we set out to do,” says Oliveira.
