Hampton & Newman, L.C., at 118 3rd Street, won August’s Golden Broom Award from Downtown Rock Springs.
This monthly award honors Downtown businesses.
Winners go above and beyond to keep their storefronts clean, welcoming, and visually appealing.
Judges specifically recognized Hampton & Newman for “preserving one of Downtown Rock Springs' most historic properties while maintaining an exceptional appearance year-round.”
“Historic buildings are an important part of what gives Downtown Rock Springs its unique character,” said Rock Springs Main Street/URA chairwoman Maria Mortensen.
“Hampton & Newman has done an outstanding job restoring this incredible piece of our history and continues to care for it in a way that enhances our entire community.
Their investment demonstrates how preservation and reinvestment can benefit both a business and our Downtown.”
The firm's offices occupy the former home of Archibald Blair.
Blair is widely known as one of Rock Springs' first citizens.
He established the area's initial coal mines, served in the Wyoming Territorial Legislature, and helped secure Wyoming's statehood.
Built between 1897 and 1903, the residence remains a vital local landmark.
As per the URA press release, Hampton & Newman bought the property in 2005.
They thoughtfully converted the historic home into their law offices.
Their careful preservation maintains the building's character.
Tasteful updates create a striking example of adaptive reuse that honors local history.
Residents can nominate businesses that keep exceptional storefronts.
To submit a nomination, call the Rock Springs URA office at (307) 352-1434.
