The Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector's Office launched an online vehicle registration service, called "Priority Pass," earlier this week.
The new online service is designed to speed up vehicle registration for Harris County residents by reducing tax office wait times.
According to the tax assessor-collector’s office, Priority Pass allows residents to submit their documents online for automatic verification before going to the tax office in person.
After submitting their documents online, residents will receive a barcode.
The barcode can then be taken to the tax office, allowing the resident to bypass paperwork that can often result in longer wait times.
The new Priority Pass service is available via MyHarrisCountyTax, which was launched by the office last year as the county's online property tax payment platform.
MyHarrisCountyTax also allows residents to set up a property tax prepayment plan.
"Priority Pass is the next step in bringing the full range of tax office service onto one platform," the office said in a news release announcing the new program.
According to the tax assessor-collector's office, when residents create a MyHarrisCountyTax profile, they can receive due date reminders via email, pay taxes for multiple properties at once, apply for recurring payments, see their bill history and save their payment methods, receipts and documents.
