Several El Paso area agencies join to give adoptive families a little break 43%

Adoptive parents and youth who need a few days apart can now take advantage of the Youth Shelter services provided by El Paso Center for Children, the Heart Gallery, and their partners.
Under this special program, the shelter is available for adopted youth ages 11-17, for up to 10 days.
The Youth Shelter at El Paso Center for Children provides fun activities, counseling, therapeutic support, meals and personal care, financial and grocery budgeting, and much more.
“Our arrangement with the Heart Gallery allows adoptive parents and their pre-teens and teens to have a mini-vacation away from each other to reset and recharge,” said Beth Senger, El Paso Center for Children CEO.
“Our team can even help with transportation to and from school and sports, and help with homework and job applications,” Senger said.
The Center is partnering with the Heart Gallery, the Child Guidance Center, and Court Appointed Special Advocates for this free service.
“Adoption has its own unique challenges,” Senger said.
“We want parents and youth to use our shelter as a resource to help make their family journey successful.”
El Paso Center for Children’s Youth Shelter continues to serve all youth ages 11-17 for up to 21 days.
The center offers a variety of support for El Paso County families, all free, all the time.

In 1919, El Paso Center for Children housed El Paso county orphans and has since evolved to support all children and families, teens, young adults, and victims of crime of any age.
Services are “all free, all the time,” and include peer groups, mentoring, shelter, housing, counseling, and more.
The Center has recently added specialized programs for fathers and military-connected families.
