19-year-old Carmelo Anthony has been convicted of stabbing a rival high school athlete during a track meet. He now faces between 5 and 99 years in prison.

It took the jury less than 3 hours to convict Carmemelllo Anthony.

notably not manslaughter, which was an option there for the jury.
Anthony stabbed 17-year-old Austin Metaf to death at a track meet in 2025.
He did claim self-defense. So now, as you mentioned, he faces 5 to 99 years in prison.
Although the issue of sudden passion has been raised, that would actually lessen the sentence somewhere between 2 and 20 years, but it does have
to be unanimous by the jury.
As this punishment phase got underway, Anony's mother began to plead with the jury to have mercy on her son.
Anthony also decided not to testify on his own behalf there, and prosecutors took the time to
point out that Anony's mother still has her son.
