I'm outside the Washington Hilton where there was an incident tonight at the annual White House Correspondents Association dinner.
What happened was we're being told by authorities that there was a shooting incident outside the ballroom where the dinner was happening outside the security checkpoint but still within side the Washington Hilton fairly nearby where the dinner was actually taking place inside of the ballroom.
We were all sitting inside the ballroom when this happened.
The dinner had just begun you know maybe 20 some minutes before that.
President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, the First Lady had been in you know invited in they had sat at the table.
There was an opening statement people were just starting to get you know just starting to eat their salads and moving on to perhaps the next course after that when all of a sudden we were being shouted at to get under the tables.
the tables. Everyone did that cabinet secretaries, ambassadors, journalists, other guests immediately ducked under their tables as we were trying to figure out what was happening.
The president, the vice president, others were whisked away from the head table.
Then armed personnel came into the ballroom. They started evacuating people out particularly they were coming for cabinet secretaries,
secretaries, ambassadors, other VIPs you know started going out as well from left the ballroom. went out of the hotel. I saw a secret service armed secret service agencies descending into the ballroom itself at this time.
As we were exiting the Washington Hilton there were other armed personnel sort of leading you know VIPs away.
I saw a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid administrator Dr. Oz being led away by armed personnel as he was walking outside of the hotel.
Right now I'm outside of the hotel there's a lot of law enforcement presence here.
Lots of police vehicles, helicopters overhead as you know the hotel is being blocks and blocks are blocked off as cars cannot get anywhere near the hotel at the moment as the Secret Service and other law enforcement are investigating what happened tonight.
