Garrett, before we get into today's ceremonies and meetings. Let's start
with Iran's surprise attack on US forces. What are we learning?
>> Well, this took place around 5:45 this evening, Sentcom says, and as you pointed out, was meant to be a surprise attack on US forces with ballistic missiles we believe fired at US bases in Jordan, although at this hour that's not yet been confirmed.
This would mark the most significant Iranian aggression in several days after what was almost two straight weeks of fighting. Then a couple of days of quiet, which President Trump had said was to give space for negotiations. At least some forces in Iran apparently unsatisfied with that space. Uh launching this new attack.
This could throw us right back to this muddy, uncertain place we've been in this war over the last couple of weeks where at some level discussions are still going on, but the two combatants are lobbing missiles at one another.
Chloe, it just remains incredibly difficult to see how the war ends in this context.
