Part of the fun of living in this literary era is seeing how modern authors take old concepts, sometimes even cliches, and make them new again.
Seattle author and educator Molly Olguín is one of those authors.
Her debut short-story collection “The Sea Gives Up the Dead” takes some classic elements of folklore and fairytales  even some biblical references  and gives them new life.
The KUOW Book Club read Molly’s collection of short stories in April.
KUOW’s Katie Campbell sat down with her on April 23 in front of a live audience at the Seattle Central Library to talk about folk lore and fairytales and the power of queering old stories.
