Whenever things aren’t going well for Donald Trump, the president posts a lot of weird stuff on his Truth Social account to make himself feel better (by the way, in his most overt act of corruption yet, companies can now officially get early access to his insane social media musings for the low, low price of up to $100,000 per month).
On Saturday, this self-therapy included yet another reminder that Trump would like to run for an unconstitutional third term in office , his plans to add Venezuela to the Union and annex Greenland , pictures of warplanes, a bunch of AI slop depicting himself as Elvis or a hero of the Revolutionary War , and an image generated with artificial intelligence that shows the president kissing a golden Jesus .
Oh, and for reasons we cannot begin to fathom, there is also one with Trump and an alien.
What defies belief, however, is that none of the above are the craziest thing that the president posted.
That dubious honor belongs to this gem .
If Senators Cornyn and Tillis, both upset because I wouldn’t Endorse them (they lost, and quit, respectively!), aren’t going to approve Todd Blanche, one of the most respected professionals, according to everybody, in the Country, to be the United States Attorney General, then I will keep Todd as Acting A.G., and push hard to get the Anti-Weaponization Bill, which takes care of those who have been so badly treated by the Crooked Joe Biden (and Obuma!)
Administration (I get nothing, although I was treated horribly!), PASSED.
Todd Blanche was a voice of reason!
It will immediately be back on the table, and I will get it done.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!
President DJT
If he thinks that he can get enough Republicans to commit political suicide by supporting a slush fund that uses a couple of billion dollars of taxpayer money to reward people who committed crimes on his behalf, then Trump is even more cuckoo than we thought.
Even taking into account the GOP’s subservience to the president and its well-established practice of turning a blind eye to his most apparent corruption (see above), there is no way that he could get this through Congress.
There is a better chance that Republicans could pass the “Print a $1 Trillion Bill and Give It to Donald Trump Act,” or legislation that posthumously awards a Congressional Gold Medal to Jeffrey Epstein.
In spite of most of them trying to duck questions about the fund, there are already enough GOP lawmakers on the record opposing it to sink any prospect it has of becoming law.
And even a plurality of MAGA supporters (and a majority of Republican voters) oppose its creation .
In other words, backing a bill that would ultimately end up giving hundreds of thousands of dollars to the insurrectionists who attacked cops on January 6 would be even more insane than posting this to one’s social media account.
No GOP lawmaker running in a district that Trump won by fewer than 10 points would risk their election for this fund.
What is especially crazy is that, in order to get his former personal lawyer installed as the permanent attorney general, he needs the support of the two senators he called out in his post – and their main objection to confirming Todd Blanche is the sweetheart deal the president’s lackeys negotiated with themselves to create the fund and give Trump, his family, and their businesses immunity from IRS audits.
Blanche has been assuring senators that this agreement is “dead” even though he refuses to put that in writing and there are a lot of signs beyond this post that the president is just waiting to bring it back.
Therefore, believing anything Trump (or Blanche, for that matter) says about this would be, well, nuts.
