As we head into the midterm elections, Republicans and some Democrats seem to be eyeing the manosphere as a crucial voting bloc , as some sort of appeal and promise to the ideal of the American everyman.
The now disgraced Graham Platner , for example, was heralded as the left’s answer to the manosphere before his downfall.
And California Gov.
Gavin Newsom , a potential presidential candidate in 2028, has discussed “a crisis of men and masculinity” and tried to appeal to the manosphere crowd and conservative men in general, with moves like hosting far-right pundit Ben Shapiro on his podcast.
But the pandering to this invented idea of the everyman is misguided, when the data shows us that 44.4% of the working class is made up of women .
And when appealing to the manosphere involves outright misogyny, you can’t appeal to the “working class” as a demographic, when you are only appealing to men.
Often this type of dominant masculinity is justified as necessary protection for women, personally and politically.
Personally, men are held up as a strong presence to protect women from outside predators.
But studies show that the biggest threat to a woman is not some shadowy evil outside, it’s the one in her own home.
It seems it’s no different in politics, as scandals that spare no political ideology prove again and again.

If the manosphere represents a voting bloc, that’s not very promising.
But there is a whole cohort of Americans still hoping for change and still hoping for justice.
