Welzen, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on July 13, 2026, at the age of 94.
Born on March 10, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, Gerry lived a life defined by love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.
She was a cherished mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend whose warmth, generosity, and gentle strength touched the lives of everyone who knew her.Throughout her life, Gerry worked as a secretary and took great pride in her career, including her years with Swift & Co. in Chicago and Verlare Cleaners in Elmhurst.
Outside of work, she found joy in reading, knitting, traveling, and, above all, spending time with her family.
She will be remembered for her deep faith, compassionate heart, generous spirit, wonderful sense of humor, and the kindness she showed to everyone she met.Gerry’s steadfast faith was the foundation of her life, providing her with strength, hope, and compassion that she generously shared with others.
Family was the center of Gerry’s life.
She is lovingly survived by her brothers, Jim Loftus and Tom Loftus; her sister, Rita Ann Huber; her son, Larry Welzen; her daughters, Mary Kay Bailey and Anne Marie Giunti (Tony); and her beloved granddaughter, Cassidy Bailey and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 47 years, Casey Welzen; her sister, Mary Kay Loftus; and her brother, Jack Loftus.Gerry’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
While she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, faith, kindness, and devotion to family will continue to inspire all whose lives she touched.A visitation will be held on July 19, 2026 at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home from 4:00-8:00pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on July 20, 2026, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Naperville, Illinois.
