President Donald Trump has upgraded the Freedom 250 opening ceremonies into a massive national rally scheduled for June 24th on the National Mall.
Stepping in to headline the nation's 250th birthday himself after a shift in the entertainment lineup, Trump is turning the kickoff event into a historic, fan-focused gathering backed by the U.S.
Marine Band and premier military choruses.
“In celebration of our Country’s 250 Year History, we will be bringing you, LIVE, the Greatest Rally, EVER!
It will be special at every level — A Rally to end all Rallies!”
wrote Trump on Truth Social.
The reinvented event will feature the U.S.
Army Band, the Armed Forces Choir, the U.S.
Marine Band and the Joint Armed Forces Chorus.
Celebrated musical soloists will also take the stage, highlighted by country music icon Lee Greenwood—singer of “God Bless the U.S.A.” and a staple at Trump’s political events—and opera singer Christopher Macchio.
Trump praised Macchio's immense talent on social media, writing, “Not since the legendary Luciano Pavarotti has there been such a voice!”
Both artists are proven crowd favorites, having previously performed at major Trump rallies, recent Republican National Conventions, and President Trump’s 2025 inauguration.
Greenwood expressed his enthusiasm for the celebration, calling the opportunity “a tremendous honor.”
The country star has been a long-time ally of the administration, famously partnering with the president to launch the “God Bless the USA Bible” project in 2024.
The shift to a political rally comes after high-profile acts—Young MC, Martina McBride, the Commodores, Morris Day and Bret Michaels—dropped out of the performance lineup shortly after the Freedom 250 event was initially announced.
