President Donald Trump arrived at a packed Madison Square Garden on Monday night, making history as the first sitting U.S. president to ever attend an NBA Finals game.
The president watched Game 3 between his hometown New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs alongside Kai Trump, the eldest daughter of Donald Trump Jr., his son-in-law Jared Kushner and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino.
They were joined in the suite by Madison Square Garden and New York Knicks owner James Dolan, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin.
Trump attended the game as an official guest of Dolan.
He first announced that he accepted his invitation to attend Game 3 of the NBA Finals during an Oval Office brief on June 4th.
“The answer is yes — he’s invited me, I’m going,” Trump told reporters when asked about Dolan’s invitation.
The president is a well-known sports enthusiast, frequently attending multiple UFC fights, college football games, NFL games and major golf tournaments.
