UPDATE 1:28 PM – The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) announced in an X post that the threat at the Islamic Center of San Diego has been neutralized.
The SDPD also said that a media staging area has been established at the Northwest Corner of Lindbergh Park in San Diego.

12:55 PM – A massive police presence has converged on the Islamic Center of San Diego following reports of an active shooter.
On Monday morning, San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria confirmed on X that law enforcement is currently responding to an active shooter situation at the Clairemont-neighborhood mosque.
I am aware of the active shooter situation at the Islamic Center of San Diego in Clairemont and am continuing to receive updates from law enforcement.
Emergency personnel are on scene and actively working to protect the community and secure the area.

Helicopter footage appeared to show one person wearing a tactical vest lying motionless at the scene, surrounded by a pool of blood.
Authorities have not officially confirmed any deaths as of 12:45 p.m.
