Tropical Depression 2 formed off the Florida Panhandle Sunday morning, and National Hurricane Center forecasters expect the system to strengthen into Tropical Storm Bertha and skirt the Gulf Coast region this week.
The system had winds of 30 mph at 10 a.m.
Sunday as moving north-northwest at 2 mph.
The warm Gulf waters will help the depression strengthen as it moves westward toward southeast Louisiana, according to the NHC forecast.
And that means much of our region is going to be dealing with a lot of rain over the next few days.
