GUILDERLAND — Flooding forced the closure of two sections of Route 20 Thursday evening.
The Guilderland Police Department advised drivers to avoid the area of Route 20 and Fuller Station Road because of the flooding.
A portion of the road near Homes Terrace was also closed, according to 511NY, the state Department of Transportation's traffic alert system.
A flash flood warning has been issued for much of the Capital Region and remains in effect until 10:15 p.m.
As of 7:12 p.m., 1 to 2 inches of rain had already fallen, according to the National Weather Service in Albany.
More rainfall up to 1 inch is possible, the weather service said.
"Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
Most flood deaths occur in vehicles," the weather service's advisory reads.
"Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads."
