Communism is no big deal, according to democratic socialist Melat Kiros .
Kiros  who is running to represent Colorado in the House of Representatives  shrugged off concerns communists are making her party look bad during a Friday interview on PBS.
Firing Line Host Margaret Hoover mentioned Republicans have “seized” on the Democratic Socialists of America being unabashed fans of Marxism, and pointed out President Donald Trump has repeatedly warned the USA is doomed if communists get control.
“In June, President Trump said these are ‘hardcore, godless communists.
This is the most serious threat to our country since it’s existence,” Hoover said.
“So first, are you a communist?”
“No, I’m not a communist,” Kiros said softly.
“How do you tackle the criticism that some members of the DSA, including half of the DSA leadership, seem to call themselves communist?”
Hoover followed up.
“Yeah, well you know, some members of the Democratic Party are proudly proclaiming themselves as capitalists,” Kiros said.
“It’s a big tent, right?”
She continued, “At the end of the day, it’s up to the voters.
Until a self-proclaimed communist actually wins an election, than it’s just noise from the Republican Party.”
Her interview comes after Kiros and a handful of other socialists won Democratic primaries in June.
Two of those candidates in New York  Darializa Avila Chevalier (D) and Claire Valdez (D)  are card-carrying members of the DSA, just like NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D).
The mayor backed both Chevalier and Valdez in their primaries.
Beyond its socialist economic agenda, the DSA website said it is against Trump’s “racist immigration policies” and America being allied with Israel, which it said has committed a “genocide” in Gaza.
Soon after the primaries, Trump sardonically congratulated Mamdani on getting “solid Communists” elected.
His tone shifted a few days later, when he said the communists have started to make “their move” in the USA.
“The game is on,” Trump said.
“Enjoy watching!”
Trump has ripped the socialists and socialism plenty of other times recently, including when he said communism is a “cancer” which must be dealt with ASAP during his Fourth of July address.
He issued a similar warning during a speech last week in Georgia.
Trump said it is really simple to understand: “With communism, everything turns to sh*t!”
