A man died after being shot by an alleged robber of a flower saleswoman and crashing his car into a palm tree, Las Vegas police said. 
Metropolitan Police Department Lt. 
Robert Price said police received a 911 call around 5 p.m. 
Thursday reporting gunfire near the 100 block of Upland Boulevard, near Jones Boulevard and Interstate 11. 
Officers at the scene discovered a man in his late 30s with an apparent gunshot wound had crashed his car into a palm tree, Price said. 
The man was taken to University Medical Center where he later died, Price added. 
Witnesses gave police a description of the alleged shooter, a man in his late 20s, and police took him into custody a few blocks away from the crash, Price said. 
Detectives learned a woman was selling flowers on a nearby street corner when the suspect robbed her of her flowers, according to Price. 
He said the victim saw the robbery from his car and exited the vehicle to try and stop the suspect. 
“An altercation ensued, resulting in the suspect pulling out a firearm and shooting our victim,” Price said. 
He added that the victim got back in his car after he was shot. 
Price said the shooting was an isolated incident that poses no threat to the public.
