CASPER, Wyo. — A 19-year-old Casper woman has pleaded cold to a charge of robbery in Natrona County District Court, admitting that she blocked a boy’s escape with a car before another teen allegedly robbed him at gunpoint for his backpack.
Kyah Marie Williams was charged after the incident in early April , and the Casper Police Department also recommended felony charges for the three juveniles.
On Thursday, July 23, Williams admitted to Judge Catherine Wilking that she had driven a vehicle up onto a sidewalk to block the escape of the teen male as three other juveniles chased him.
The victim told police that a female in a red hoodie had put a “shiesty” — a balaclava-style ski mask — over her face and pointed a gun “straight out” at him, demanding his backpack.
He said he dropped the bag and the three juveniles ran back to the vehicle with it and took off, according to the affidavit.
He made the report around 9:30 p.m.
Friday, April 3, and a Natrona County Sheriff’s Office deputy soon spotted the suspect vehicle and pulled it over near CY Avenue and Kit Carson Avenue, taking all five occupants in for questioning.
One juvenile female had a handgun in her waistband, the affidavit said.
Some also got minor in possession charges for the bucket of 99 Bananas shots and liquor in the trunk of the vehicle, where the backpack was also found.
As part of the plea agreement , Chief Deputy District Attorney Blaine Nelson said Williams would not be charged for the presence of the stolen firearm seized during the investigation.
If the judge agrees to the Youthful Offender Transition Program, informally known as “boot camp,” Williams could become eligible for a sentence modification upon completion of the intensive and physical program, but a sentence reduction is not guaranteed.
The victim and his girlfriend said they became increasingly worried that Friday evening as they rode around with Williams and the other juveniles, according to the Casper police report.
He’d asked his girlfriend for a ride home that night, and she showed up in a vehicle driven by Williams.
They then picked up two females he didn’t know, including one wearing a gold chain and a red sweatshirt, identified in the affidavit as DB.
The group then picked up a juvenile male from the C’mon Inn and eventually ended up at a gas station.
While at the gas station, the victim said he and his girlfriend remained in the car while Williams pumped gas and the other three stood outside the vehicle in a circle.
He said the other male previously asked him if he had a gun.
His girlfriend also recalled the group looking at them in the car and laughing as they talked.
She said she’d heard them use the term “headshot,” which they had explained to her just days earlier meant robbing someone or “doing something nefarious,” according to the summary of statements in the affidavit.
She said that when the victim got out of the car near his house, located in a neighborhood near the Sunrise Shopping Center, the group began asking her what he had in his backpack, and Williams said the word “headshot” to the group.
The victim said they dropped him off up the street from his house and that as he was walking down the sidewalk, DB and the two other juveniles got out and started running toward him.
He said he started running toward his house, but Williams, who was driving the car, pulled the vehicle out in front of him, forcing him to stop.
Two of the suspects interviewed told police the victim had pulled out a knife, but confirmed that DB had first pointed a gun at him.
As the group drove away from the scene, the victim’s girlfriend said the male juvenile went through his backpack and wallet and dropped his ID out the window before they were pulled over by a deputy.
Williams reportedly told police she didn’t think they were serious about going through with the plan “because they were children,” according to the affidavit.
Williams is out on bond, which had been set at $40,000 cash or surety at her initial appearance on April 6 .
