If you tell someone you’re seeing stand-up comedy at Side Splitters, they might ask “which location?”
The 34-year-old local staple has multiple venues, after all: One on N Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa, and another at The Grove in Wesley Chapel.
Later this year, Side Splitters adds a third on the other side of Tampa Bay, at the Sundial shopping center in downtown St.
Pete.
“St.
Pete is a great market,” owner Brian Thompson told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay.
“As it continues to grow, I feel it’s a market that could use a club.”

Pete location will have some features that mirror the other two locations, like convenient parking, an open mic night and spots for local comedians to perform on weekend shows.
But it will also have some unique features, like a dedicated green room and a separate path for comedians directly to the stage.
Thompson also wants to set up a separate area for comedians with more professional recording devices.
Thompson was hoping to have the venue, which will seat a similar number of patrons as the Tampa location, ready by summer.
But while demolition and construction are under way, it might take a bit longer to bring the laughter to St.
Petersburg.
“Realistically, late ’26,” Thompson predicted.
“Things take a while sometimes.”
