The Monique Burr Foundation for Children is elevating Ashley Garrett to Chief Executive Officer.
Garrett, who most recently served as the Foundation’s Vice President of Prevention Education, steps into the top leadership role after nearly three decades working across the nonprofit, federal and international sectors.
As CEO, Garrett will set the strategic direction for the Jacksonville-based organization, overseeing its operations, fundraising, communications, community relations and advocacy while working to expand its child safety programs in schools and communities in the United States and abroad.

Before joining MBF, Garrett served as Human Trafficking Practice Lead at ICF, where she directed strategic planning, business development and oversight of domestic and international anti-human trafficking initiatives.
She also was the Founding Director of the National Human Trafficking Training and Technical Assistance Center within the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Trafficking in Persons.
Throughout her career, Garrett has developed and managed programs serving children, women and survivors of exploitation in more than 20 countries, working with governments, United Nations agencies and nonprofit organizations.
Garrett earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado Boulder and a master’s degree in public administration from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies.
She has received the Department of Homeland Security Secretary’s Commendation for Outstanding Service and has served with organizations including City Year, Class Act Arts and Opportunity Collaboration.
Founded 29 years ago, the Monique Burr Foundation develops evidence-based prevention education programs designed to help children, families and educators prevent, recognize and respond to abuse, exploitation, trafficking, bullying and online dangers.
To date, the Foundation has reached more than 22 million children in 42 states and seven countries while training more than 10,000 facilitators to deliver its prevention education programs.
