A nationwide tour dedicated to the preservation of American history is making a stop in Denver today, commemorating 25 years since the attacks carried out on Sept.
11, 2001.
The Tunnels to Towers Foundation, a nonprofit that helps families of 9/11 first responders and veterans, is holding a ceremony at the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum today at 11 a.m.
The foundation is transporting a 16,900-pound steel beam that was recovered from the rubble of the World Trade Center buildings, and travelling with it across the country as a tribute to first responders and their families.
Steel Across America launched on May 2, near Ground Zero in Lower Manhattan.
Over the next 10,500 miles, the steel will make more than 35 stops in 21 states and Washington, D.C., visiting landmark locations, community gathering places, town squares, and major sporting events nationwide before returning to Ground Zero on Sept. 11 on the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
