A broken pinkie finger wasn’t going to keep Mitchell Robinson out of the biggest game of his career. 
The Knicks’ backup center was made active for Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night, despite him undergoing surgery last week for a fracture to the fifth metacarpal on his right hand. 
Robinson, 28, was listed as questionable before being cleared to play shortly before tip-off at San Antonio’s Frost Bank Center. 
The 7-footer practiced Tuesday, then went through a pregame warm-up Wednesday with a brace on his hand. 
It is unclear how Robinson broke the bone  located near the knuckle  on his shooting hand, but Knicks head coach Mike Brown has said that the injury did not occur in a game or at practice. 
Robinson, the longest-tenured Knick, averaged 5.3 points and 5.5 rebounds in 14.2 minutes per game through the first three rounds of the playoffs, but his impact as a rim-protector and on the offensive glass regularly transcends the box score. 
He figures to be part of the Knicks’ defensive game plan against all-world Spurs center Victor Wembanyama.
