Fancy a drink with some storytelling around it?
How about a multi-sensory experience cooked up for cocktail aficionados across the rooms of a Faubourg Marigny hotel?
That’s the pitch of Tales House, a new, limited-time experience created for the public by Tales of the Cocktail, the annual drinks industry conference now underway in New Orleans.
Each year around this time, it fills the city with bartenders, spirits brands and others in the business from around the world.
It also gives a needed pop to the hospitality business in deep summer.
Tales House is designed for small groups with timed entry to experience each of these small chambers with drinks and small bites at each stop.
The tour lasts about an hour with bookings open from afternoon through evening.
Tickets are $99.
Tales House will host master classes on cocktails on Friday and Saturday (July 24 and 25), led by Neal Bodenheimer, founder of the New Orleans bar Cure and co-chair of the Tales of the Cocktail Foundation, and Francesco Lafranconi, who leads beverages for the Las Vegas group Carver Road Hospitality.
Tickets are $125.
For tickets and times, see talesofthecocktail.org/tales-passport.
In one room, though, attendees are instructed “not to drink the paint,” which proves helpful guidance in the context of all potables being passed around.

It has taken over the Royal Frenchmen Hotel & Bar (700 Frenchmen St.) and turned a progression of rooms across its three floors into different sensory experiences based on cocktails.
The idea taps into the global spirits brands that partner with the conference, and whose products are part of the experience, and local bartender talent and event producers who run show.
