West Dallas residents have experienced health issues for decades because of the industrial plants within their community, such as GAF shingles factory.
Three years later, the authorized hearing process has begun.
On Nov. 18, neighbors gathered for the first public meeting, sharing concerns and hopes for their neighborhood.
City planners told them their input will help guide the zoning recommendations so that they align with community values and goals.
The next public hearing is on Jan. 13, 2026, 6–7:30 p.m. at the West Dallas Multipurpose Center.
