What to know about Trump's new Air Force One, gifted by the Qataris #shorts
President Trump took his first flight on the new Air Force One gifted by the Qataris.
Let's take a look inside the cabin and at the controversy.
The president has repeatedly said the old Air Force One was too old and not appropriate to represent our country.
There haven't been a lot of photos released of the interior, but the press pool describes it as luxurious and says there are large tan leather seats that have a massage feature and can lie flat.
The plane's interior colors have also been altered with more gold and dark wood compared to the older model.
The new plane is worth an estimated $400 million
million and required the Air Force to make modifications for the safety and security of the president like encrypting communications and installing counter defense systems.
Secretary Troy Meink told the House Armed Services Committee the Air Force spent less than $400 million taxpayer dollars on the renovations.
Some congressional Democrats and Republicans have raised ethical and national security concerns since Trump announced he was accepting in 2025.
The maximum value for a presidential gift from a foreign government is set by Congress and it's $480.
Since the plane is worth much more than that, it is the property of the US government and Trump can't keep it when he leaves office, but he can move it to his presidential library, which is what he has said he'll do.
He's expected to use it until 2028 when Boeing delivers two new permanent Air Force One jets.
