And as the main Democratic party and prominent progressives call on Graham Platner to drop out in the wake of new assault allegations, his latest accuser is revealing why she decided to come forward. Now >> you have been very reluctant to tell this story. >> Very reluctant. Why did you ultimately decide to do it? Why why come forward? >> A few reasons. Um, one of the biggest ones is that I think that there are a lot of men in this world relying on the silence of women and to be where they
are and I don't want to contribute to that. I also want to just get my life back. >> President of Politics and host of the Hannah Cox Show joins us now. Hannah Cox. Hannah, why did Democrats let it get to this point when we all knew, we all knew that the largest bombshell involving this train of bombshells involving Platner would come after the primaries. We all knew it. >> Well, I think they've been in deep denial. I think a lot of their base was really excited not only to take down Republicans in Maine, but hopefully to
take down their own establishment within their party. And for a little bit, they let ideas out character. That's something we've seen in the Republican party a good bit, too. And I think it's been very unfortunate to see. It's been clear this guy is a complete loser for some time. I mean, from the Nazi tattoo all the way down to the most recent accusations, he has a ton of bodies in his closet. He seems to be a deeply problematic and unstable person. These latest accusations are very serious.
This is not a gray area of what he's being accused. This is somebody breaking into a woman's home and assaulting her against her will. This is something that Democrats have to hold the line on. I personally have been very pleased at least to see finally with these latest accusations, Democrats are calling for him to step down. You still have some weirdos like Stephen King saying that he shouldn't and he should keep going. That's absolutely not true. We don't need any more sexual predators in DC.
There's already way too many that are there. Character matters and I think that has to be something we reestablish in this country. I firmly think Republicans have really gotten away from that themselves. Democrats cannot give up that moral authority simply to win the Senate seat. And I say that as somebody who wants to see Democrats take control this year in the fall. But it cannot be at the cost of putting sexual predators in DC. I think what we know about this guy is more than enough to
call for him to get out of there. And you know, at the end of the day, Susan Collins is a pretty moderate Republican. I think that it would be much better to see her there and have somebody who's not been marred with these kinds of character stains in leadership than to put somebody like this guy up there. >> You know, in Maine, Democrats can replace Platiner only if he withdraws by July 13th. So that clock is obviously ticking. Do you foresee that happening? >> I think so. There's a lot of pressure
mounting. We're seeing the vast majority of the party, both uh the the establishment and even the progressive wings calling for that. Again, you still have some some really crazy people who are saying that this doesn't matter. That things like the Israel Palestine conflict and Susan Collins taking money from Apac are more important. I saw Suger of the Young Turks say that on Twitter yesterday. I think that's impinged. I think that's totally crazy, but I think the bulk of the party is calling for him to step down. I think he
should be pressured to do so. >> And it'll be fascinating to see if he does step down where that vote goes. doesn't go to Janet Mills or one of the other people that is being rumored to get those votes. We shall see. Meanwhile, switching gears, Hannah, happening today, the illegal migrant accused of murdering Loyola Chicago University freshman Sheridan and Gorman due back in court for a status hearing. Her parents posting this on X for her birthday, which was yesterday. Quote, "Today, as we celebrate our sweet
Sherah's first heavenly birthday, we will spend today doing what she did so effortlessly, loving big, noticing people, choosing joy where we can, and thanking God for the gift of 18 years with her and for you all who are fighting for change so another family can celebrate more birthdays together." Final thoughts to you, Anna. >> I think it's atrocious. I think that we have to focus on clamping down on hard crime in this country, both from immigrants and from citizens. We know that citizens commit even more crimes
than immigrants and illegal immigrants even do. And as a whole, we have to have policies that protect women. Here in Atlanta, we've had two or three women murdered recently in broad daylight by people who should have been locked up, who are mentally unstable, who should be institutionalized. And nothing's happening. They keep getting arrested, they get slapped on the wrist, they get let go across the board. This is not okay. And politicians need to be focusing on policies that actually keep
these people in prison and that don't continue to unleash them on the public if they're illegal immigrants. Get them out of here. We need to focus our resources on that. >> Yeah. I mean, I'm I'm glad you said it. It's, you know, legal citizens as well. It it goes both ways. Hannah Cox, thank you so much. >> Thanks for having me.
