America 250 CLASH: Mamdani speech set before Trump's address
Meantime, it is not just the intense heat that's making it Capitol Hill Dems sweat.
The socialist summer hitting Washington hard with several far-left victories this primary season.
And take a look at your screen, a slew of candidates endorsed by the Democrat Socialists of America coming down the pike.
And the face of the leftist push, Zohran Mamdani, preparing to give his own America 250 address just hours before President Trump addresses the nation at Mount Rushmore.
Political commentator Cameron Kinsey joins us now to discuss.
Cameron, great to have you back on the program.
Look, I know conventional wisdom is that these socialists are too extreme to beat Republicans in actual contested races come November.
But isn't the greater long-term concern the fact that socialism and communism, to quote the president, is becoming acceptable for so many voters?
>> Yeah, well, thank you for having me back on, Todd.
It's good to see you.
It's been a while.
I think unfortunately communism is in our backyard because the most radical voices of the Democrat Party are now leading the charge.
Many of whom aren't even from here.
They don't encourage assimilation.
Or their victories were predicated on mass migration.
So I think right now as we celebrate America 250, we celebrate our freedoms.
You know, I'm grateful that we have a president who's advocating for those freedoms.
And looking ahead to the fourth, I'm excited to celebrate with my family.
Todd, I'm even more excited to raise my child here because there's no better country on earth.
But at the same time, this anniversary is a reminder of how important it is to elect leaders who truly embody American values. So those freedoms are never taken for granted.
>> Congrats on the pregnancy, by the way.
I did see that on social.
I didn't want to confirm it until you confirmed it live on TV.
But let's get back to the patriotism problem, right? Fox News asking Democrats or Republicans if they were proud of the country.
27%.
Only 27% of Democrats said they were proud.
83% of Republicans say they are proud.
And so, what's the Democrat response?
Well, one Congressman, Tom Suozzi, over there in Long Island, wants to push his party to actually embrace patriotism over socialism.
He writes in a Wall Street Journal op-ed the following, "Democrats have long believed that America is great, not because it's perfect, but because it has the capacity to become better."
The choice Democrats face is clear. We can allow patriotism to become a partisan label, or we can reclaim a tradition that rightly belongs to every American."
But, Cameron, is the latter even possible when the people that seem to be driving the Democrat party right now seem to also hate America.
Not my words, their own words. "We're wiping our hands on the flag. We're talking about how this country needs to be fundamentally broken up and changed."
That doesn't sound like patriotism to me.
Can Tom Suozzi's vision for the Democrats actually come true?
>> Yeah, you know, people, it's just not resonating.
This message isn't resonating. Americans are in the mood for optimism right now, especially young voters like myself.
Uh my generation, we grew up during COVID.
We lived through crippling inflation under Biden.
Uh we want a hopeful message right now, and not this.
We don't want one filled with hate.
I think people are thinking of buying a home, raising a family, you know, starting a life.
And like I mentioned, uh me and my husband, for instance, we're expecting our first child.
So, this really hits home for us, too.
So, after years of lockdown, inflation, uncertainty, Americans don't need another sermon on decline or shortcomings or how they hate this nation.
You know, we want real we want hopeful leadership, you know, that says that America's days are uh the best days are still ahead.
So, I'm really glad that President Trump has put an emphasis on this recently.
I do think that even his speech today, it'll be more forward-looking, it'll be focused on an amazing future and how much this country has already accomplished in its 250 years.
>> And I think to your point, I think President Trump and Republicans,
President Trump started doing this, but Republicans really need to hit this message in the next 4 months leading up to the midterms.
It's not just socialism, it's it's really communism.
And that message from the president, I think is so crucial for Republicans if they want to have any chance of holding the house.
Cameron Kinsey, congrats
again and thank you for joining us.
We appreciate it.
>> Thank you, Todd. All right.
