Trump’s Freedom 250 Stage Appears to Break Apart During Rehearsal: Video
A video circulating online of a rehearsal for President Donald Trump-aligned Freedom 250 Fourth of July celebration appears to show part of the event's stage breaking apart and crashing onto the performance area, narrowly missing several dancers.
Footage shared on social media by Aaron Parnas, a lawyer and frequent Trump critic, shows performers abruptly stopping their routine as a large piece of the overhead structure seemingly falls onto the stage.
It is not known at the time of publication whether any injuries resulted from the reported incident.
The incident adds to recent setbacks surrounding Freedom 250 festivities, which are intended to mark the nation's 250th anniversary.
*Newsweek* reached out to the White House via email for comment.
What To Know
The celebrations have already faced disruptions from an intense heat wave, with some events canceled or scaled back and rehearsals affected by extreme temperatures.
The multi-day Great American State Fair has also drawn online criticism over its attendance, while several states opted not to participate.
The fair is being organized by Freedom 250, the Trump-aligned nonprofit behind several semi-quincentennial events.
Reacting to the video of the stage appearing to fall apart, Republican Congressman Thomas Massie of Kentucky said on X, "Feeling more and more like the Hunger Games."
Democratic Governor of California Gavin Newsom's press office said on X, "A metaphor for America under Trump".
Former Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger posted lines of "haha" on X in reaction.
State Fair Arch is Coming Apart, Video Appears to Show
Earlier this week, another viral video from Trump's Great American State Fair showed decorative elements on a replica triumphal arch appearing to pull away from the structure, prompting online speculation.
The footage appears to show separation at the seams where ornamental column pieces connect to the facade, revealing what looks like construction foam or caulk.
Video from the fair suggests the columns are decorative additions attached to the exterior rather than the structure itself.
While some claimed the arch was "falling apart," the available footage does not appear to show any failure of the arch's underlying framework.
Instead, the visible separation seems confined to decorative facade elements separating at their joints, with no public evidence that the main structure itself was compromised.
Trump Touts New 'Spirit of '76' Exhibit
While Trump has yet to comment publicly on the stage seemingly falling apart and the near miss of the performers as the large section broke free from the ceiling and clanked to the stage floor, he did take to Truth Social on Thursday night to tout "Spirit of '76," a new exhibition at Freedom Plaza in Washington, D.C., celebrating the heroes and martyrs of the American Revolution.
In one post, Trump highlighted the story of Founding Father Caesar Rodney, recounting how Rodney rode overnight through a thunderstorm from Dover, Delaware, to Philadelphia on July 2, 1776, despite suffering from asthma and facial cancer, to cast the decisive vote that helped secure American independence.
Trump noted that an equestrian statue honoring Rodney now anchors the exhibition and encouraged Americans to visit.
In another post, Trump said the exhibition includes statues of Revolutionary War soldiers, reliefs commemorating the Prison Ship Martyrs—thousands of Americans who died aboard British prison ships during the war—and a central bronze monument titled *Spirit of Liberty*, depicting a figure holding the Declaration of Independence and raising a sword skyward.
Calling the display a tribute to the "Heroes and Martyrs of the American Revolution," Trump said the monuments celebrate the "250-year Triumph of the American Spirit" as the country prepares to mark its semi-quincentennial.
What Is the Great American Fair
The Great American State Fair is the centerpiece of Freedom 250's celebration of the nation's 250th anniversary.
Running from June 25 through July 10 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., the 16-day exposition was designed to bring together all 50 states and six U.S. territories with exhibits highlighting history, culture, tourism and local traditions.
Organizers have described it as a modern-day World's Fair celebrating the people, innovations and spirit of the United States.
In addition to state pavilions, the fair features music, food vendors, military displays, historical exhibits and family attractions, culminating in a planned July 4 celebration headlined by Trump.

Taking to Truth Social earlier this week, Trump said, "Do you think people appreciate what a fantastic job we did in building and operating the Great American State Fair at the National Mall, packed with happy people, and everybody loving it?
Ask yourself this simple question, 'DO YOU THINK THAT OBUMA OR SLEEPY JOE BIDEN COULD HAVE DONE IT?'
THE ANSWER IS NO!"
