SCGOP plans televised Republican Senate candidate debate for Aug. 3 8%

The South Carolina Republican Party is hosting a debate for candidates in the special Senate primary, giving each candidate a chance to explain their platforms to voters. 
SCGOP is partnering with Gray Media to host a televised debate on Aug. 3 from 7-8 p.m. 
Viewers can watch the debate on Gray Media owned television stations, including FOX Carolina in the Upstate. 
Republican Party Chair Drew McKissick said in a statement that it is critical for Republicans to be able to compare candidates before they choose who could represent South Carolina in the Senate.

The SCGOP has not confirmed which candidates will appear at the debate, but the party said in a press release that a candidate must agree to participate in a runoff debate if they want to appear in the Aug. 3 debate. 
Since nine candidates have been certified by the Republican Party to appear on the ballot, a runoff race on Aug. 25 between the top two candidates is likely. 
The state Republican Party will partner with Newsmax for a runoff debate, which will air on Aug. 
18. 
A time for the debate has not yet been released. 
The primary winner will compete against the Democratic nominee Dr. 
Annie Andrews in the November general election.
