San Francisco firefighters battled a blaze that spread across multiple floors of a six-story apartment building in the Tenderloin on Sunday afternoon, forcing evacuations.
Three people were treated smoke inhalation and one transported to a hospital during the blaze, which started around noon on Jones Street between Ellis and O’Farrell streets, according to the San Francisco Fire Department.
The fire spread to multiple floors because it had started in a light shaft, the fire department said.
Video posted by the fire department showed smoke swirling out of the entrance to the apartment building at 424 Jones St. as a firefighter walked inside.
The Red Cross responded to help residents, the fire department said.
