Stephen Joseph Lammermann
Steve lost his valiant battle of 18 years with prostate cancer, slipping away peacefully, in no pain, at home, with love all around him.
An amazing man, quintessentially at home in his skin, equally comfortable wrenching under a classic car, dancing in a tuxedo at the Broadmoor or until dawn in Argentina, raising wonderful sons, driving 1000 miles on unmarked dirt roads in the shadow of the Andes, sailing in the deep, dark Amazon, winning Best of Class at the Super Chevy Auto show with a beautiful.
’57 Chevy, exploring the back streets of Barcelona, San Juan, Athens, snorkeling in Tahiti and the Virgin Islands – the best kind of curious and kind world traveler.
Steve’s beloved Dad, Robert, died very young and Steve was very fortuitously matched with Charlie Gerretson via the Big Brothers organization.
Charlie taught him to ski, had him renovate a rustic cabin, and to do an elegant addition to Charlie’s home in Belcaro.
Charlie also gave Steve an appreciation of real estate investment, which became a career.
Best thing ever, though, Charlie introduced him to Christina, the love of his life, on a blind date.
That was that – match made in heaven.
She called him her Handsome, and boy, SO great looking!
Steve’s older brother, Chuck, partnered with him in an auto body shop in Central City, NE, where Steve spent happy years transforming cars, and houses, and enjoying family there.
Steve was very close with his mother, Maxine, and his brothers Chuck and Donny, and lost them all too young.
After falling for Christina, it was back to Denver, to renovate and live in beautiful Victorian houses.
Married May 14, 1988, two marvelous sons soon followed, Brennan, 1990, and Hayden, 1991.
Moving to wonderful Forest Hill in Englewood in 1994, they lived a splendidly happy life, true best friends all round.
Steve had an amazing eye for beautiful design, and that talent came through in all his renovations.
Steve was a great Dad – teaching his sons cars, carpentry, and real estate investment.
They just wanted to be him – and they have succeeded beautifully.
Missed now and forever by Christina, Brennan, Hayden, Meaghan, Lily, Olive, and 1-year old Riley June.
Also, by Charlie and his husband, Denis, Erin and Alec Hart, Billie and Chad Lammermann, Deedee, Ryon and Marina Hart and their families, lifetime friends, the Manchesters, the Smiths, and Einings.
Wonderful cousins in CA, SC, NM, IA, ID, LA.
Celebration of Life on August 22, 3-6 PM, at the family’s home, hartlammer@aol.
