Fred Max Huwe, age 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Aspen Acres Care Center in Hayward, WI.
He was born on February 26, 1943, in Frazee, MN, in Frederick and Emma (Dittman) Huwe.
He was united in marriage to Charline Gayle Ryan on January 16, 1968, in Monck’s Corner, South Carolina.
Born and raised in Frazee, MN, attending a small country school for early grades before transferring to Bagley School.
He later graduated from East Aurora High School in Aurora, IL.
Fred proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a submariner from 1964 until 1976.
He later worked at Metropolitan Edison Co. and Northern Indiana Public Services Co., retiring in April of 2000.
Fred had a passion for collecting cars and loved attending car shows.
He was a dedicated member of the VFW, American Legion, NRA and USSVI (submarine services).
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Charline Huwe of Hayward, WI and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Fred is preceded in death by his siblings, Clarence, Lawrence, Delaine, Robert, Violet, Jim, Edwin, Darlene, Evelyn and Dorothy.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Ascension Episcopal Church in Hayward, where visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the service.
A committal service with military honors will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward, WI.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Regional Hospice of Hayward or Ascension Episcopal Church.
