Nature’s Bakery to close Hazelwood plant, lay off 345 workers
Nature’s Bakery plans to permanently close its Hazelwood manufacturing plant, a move that will eliminate 345 jobs over the coming year as production shifts to other company facilities.
The snack maker filed a layoff notice with Missouri officials Tuesday, saying its plant at 8860 Pershall Road will close in September 2027.
The first 130 employees are expected to lose their jobs this September, followed by another 215 workers in February 2027.
Any remaining employees will be laid off when the plant officially closes in September 2027.
Nature’s Bakery said employees will have the opportunity to apply for other positions in the company or elsewhere with Mars Inc., which owns the snack brand.
The company is shifting production to other facilities as it continues expanding its manufacturing footprint, including a recently opened plant in Utah.
Nature’s Bakery, known for its fig bars and other nut-free and dairy-free snack products, was acquired by KIND Snacks in 2020.
Mars later acquired KIND, making Nature’s Bakery part of the Mars portfolio.
